What your cycle log can reveal, where an app can send it, and five minutes of checks that tell you whether it stays yours.
A cycle log is more than dates. Over a few months it can show whether you might be pregnant or are trying to be, and, if the app asks for it, patterns in your health, mood and sex life. It is the kind of record most people would only share with someone they trust, which is why it matters who holds it.
Depending on how an app is built, what you log can be:
None of this is true of every app. These are the questions worth asking before you trust one.
If entries are stored only on your phone, no company holds them, so there is nothing on a server to leak or hand over. The trade-off is that no other copy exists. If you lose the phone or clear the browser or app data, the log is gone unless you made a backup.
Cloud storage is the reverse: your log can be recovered, but someone else holds it. Neither is wrong. Know which one you are choosing, and if your data is on your phone, export a backup now and then.
We built Bella Blooms to pass this checklist. You don't need an account, an email or a phone number to use the app. Your entries are stored only in your phone's browser storage and are never sent anywhere, and the app has no analytics, ads or tracking. It works offline, and Export and Restore always work. We couldn't see your log even if we wanted to.
Buying is separate from using. Our payment provider, Paddle, takes your email, country and payment details at checkout, and we can see your order there: your email, country, the amount and your invoice reference. We use it to give you your key, help you if something goes wrong, refund you and keep the accounting records the law requires. Your card details never reach us, your key holds only an order number and the time of purchase, and none of this is linked to what you log, because we never receive that. It is one payment, with no subscription.
Two things to know. The app has no lock of its own, so keep your phone's screen lock on. And because nothing is stored elsewhere, back up your log if it matters to you. You can check all of this yourself on the Your data page, and the Before you buy questions cover the rest. If you want it, you can get Bella Blooms here.
Whether anyone can ask for cycle data, and when, depends on where you live and can change. We can't advise on that. If it worries you, a digital-rights or reproductive-rights organisation in your country can give you current guidance.
